SLT have formulated this Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) in order to encourage the responsible use of SLT networks, systems, services, Web sites and products (collectively, SLT Network and Services”) by our customers and other users of the SLT Network and Services (collectively, “Users”), and to enable SLT to provide Users with secure, reliable and productive services. SLT is committed to protecting the customers, Internet community and the company itself from unlawful or damaging actions by individuals, either intentionally or unintentionally.
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) further defines the rights that SLT has to ensure consistent and acceptable use of SLT services and the network by users, as well as safeguard and protect its own commercial interests.
PLEASE READ THIS ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP) BEFORE ACCESSING THE SERVICE AND IF YOU DO AGREE TO THE TERMS YOU MAY PROCEED AND YOU WILL BE BOUND BY THE TERMS SETFORTH BELOW and shall constitute your agreement to comply with SLT Acceptable Use Policy. By activating the services you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to this Acceptable Use Policy as setout hereunder. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE TERMS OR do not wish to be bound by this or any modifications which may be made by SLT from time to time as described herein or if this policy is UNACCEPTABLE TO YOU, YOU MAY IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECT OR NOT USE THE SERVICE.
Users are generally expected to behave in a reasonable manner and to adhere to commonly accepted practices of the Internet community. The categories listed below are intended merely to serve as guidelines regarding appropriate and inappropriate conduct; the list is by no means exhaustive and should not be interpreted as such.
What Users should not do?
Transmit or post on web sites any information or software which contains a Virus, Trojans, Worm or other harmful component.
Post, transmit, publish, reproduce or distribute information, software or other material obtained through the Service which is protected by copyright, patent or any other intellectual proprietary rights, without obtaining the prior approval of the copyright owner or right holder.
Transmit or post on web sites any information pertaining to SLT or any other network and the disclosure of it deemed threatening to the normal functioning of such networks.
Attempt to circumvent authentication or security of any host, network or account (hacking).
System abuse is strictly prohibited. Exploit the security of the network which includes but not limited to crack passwords or security encryption codes, access data not intended for the user (sniff network traffic) and scanning for live network resources on SLT or other networks is not entertained at any level and will results in immediate termination of Service and hold the User financially liable for any damage, and if applicable, bring legal action against the user.
User should not attempt to interfere or hinder the service to any other user, host or network (denial of service attacks). This includes, but is not limited to flooding of networks, deliberate attempts to overload a server or a service.
To infringe or facilitate infringement of any intellectual property right of any person.
For any purpose which against public interest, public order or national harmony.
In violation of any laws relating to unfair competition, anti – discrimination or false advertising.
Privacy of Data
Data transferred through the Internet in general is not confidential. SLT cannot guarantee the privacy, protection or integrity of any such data. SLT make no guarantee regarding, and assume no liability for, the security and integrity of any data or information a User transmits via the Service or over the Internet, including any data or information transmitted via any server designated as “secure.”
Information Collection and Use.
SLT is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this policy. SLT collects information from our users at several different points on this Web site.
SLT’ s Right to modify the Acceptable Use Policy.
SLT reserves the right to modify this Policy in any way at any time. Changes made to the Policy become effective upon posting of the modified Policy to this URL. Your use of SLT’s services after such notice has been posted shall constitute your acceptance of the modifications to these policies. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure their awareness of any such changes.
Any complaints regarding prohibited use or other abuse of the SLT Network, including violations of this Acceptable Use Policy, should be sent via email to pr@slt.lk. Please include all applicable information that will assist SLT in investigating the complaints, including all applicable headerlines of forwarded messages.
Web Site Registration.
In order to access certain parts of the web site , users will be required to first complete the registration form. During registration, users are required to give their contact information (name and e-mail address). This information is used to contact users about the topics on our site for which they have expressed interest and to enable users to register for programs online. We do not sell or rent personal identification information.
Cooperate Investigations
SLT will cooperate with appropriate law enforcement agencies and other parties involved in investigating claims of illegal or inappropriate activity. SLT reserves the right to disclose customer information to such external parties as law demands.
Illegal Use
While it is not our intent to control or monitor your online experience or the content of your online communications, we may edit or remove content that we deem to be in violation of the AUP or that we otherwise deem harmful or offensive. The Network utilized by SLT Services may be used only for lawful purposes. Transmission, distribution or storage of any material in violation of any applicable law or regulation is prohibited. This includes, without limitation, material protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret or intellectual property rights used without proper authorization and material that is obscene, defamatory, constitutes and illegal threat or violates applicable laws.
Disclaimer
SLT does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error free. SLT will provide every effort in good faith to ensure that its services are available as much as possible with minimal service interruptions.
In no circumstance will SLT be liable for any claims resulting from the use or inability to use SLT services- including, but not limited to service interruptions, client errors, internet connectivity problems, miscommunications, unauthorized access to SLT servers, Internet bandwidth congestion, power failures, vandalism and natural disasters. SLT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFIT , LOSS OF BUSINESS OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, LOSS OF USE ETC. even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Indemnity
The Customer shall indemnify and hold harmless SLT against any claim, action, demand, expense, loss or other liabilities whatsoever which may arise as a result of inter alia from your violation of this AUP, misuse or abuse of the Services, or your infringement, or infringement by any other user of your account, of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity.
SLT advices its Users to review the policy from time to time, which is published at SLT web site. For any clarifications of terms or clauses in this policy please forward it by email addressed to pr@slt.lk If the User finds something unacceptable the User must immediately stop using the service and inform SLT.
BY CONTINUING TO USE SLT SERVICE, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTOOD ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SETFORTH ABOVE AND I AGREE TO ABIDE BY THOSE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
